Description
Domaine d’Archimbaud “Les Enfants Terribles” 2024 is a characterful red wine from the Terrasses du Larzac, one of the most dynamic and respected appellations in the Languedoc. Produced from organically farmed vineyards in Saint-Saturnin, the wine reflects both the Mediterranean warmth of the region and the cooling influence of the nearby Larzac plateau, which helps preserve freshness and balance.
The cuvée is typically based on a classic southern Rhône-style blend, combining varieties such as Mourvèdre, Grenache, Syrah, and Carignan. This mix brings together richness, structure, and aromatic complexity, giving the wine both power and finesse. In the glass, it shows a deep, intense ruby colour with dark reflections, hinting at its concentration and youthful energy.
On the nose, the wine is expressive and layered, offering aromas of black cherry, blackberry, and plum, alongside floral notes of violet and a touch of spice. Typical garrigue notes—thyme, rosemary, and dried herbs—add a distinctive Mediterranean identity, while subtle smoky or peppery nuances bring additional depth.
The palate is generous and structured, with a dense core of ripe fruit balanced by freshness. The tannins are fine and well-defined, giving the wine a smooth yet firm texture. Flavours of dark berries, spice, and herbal notes unfold gradually, supported by a lively acidity that keeps the wine from feeling heavy. The finish is long, warm, and persistent, with a refined balance between power and elegance.
Still very young, the 2024 vintage shows energy and intensity, with good ageing potential over the coming years. It can be enjoyed now with decanting, but will develop further complexity with time.
This is a gastronomic red, ideal with grilled lamb, beef, duck, and hearty Mediterranean dishes, as well as aged cheeses. Domaine d’Archimbaud “Les Enfants Terribles” 2024 is a strong expression of Terrasses du Larzac: structured, aromatic, and deeply rooted in its terroir, combining southern generosity with freshness and precision.
