Description

Château Bellevue 2015 is a distinguished Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé, produced on one of the most enviable terroirs of the Right Bank. The estate’s history dates back to the 17th century, when the “Fief de Bellevue” belonged to the Lacaze family. Over the centuries, the property has remained closely tied to important Bordeaux wine families, including the Pradel de Lavaux lineage, and more recently has benefited from the expertise and involvement of Château Angélus, contributing to its modern quality-driven evolution.

Located on the highest point of the Saint-Émilion limestone plateau (around 75 metres), the vineyard enjoys exceptional exposure and a complex mix of clay-limestone soils that become increasingly calcareous near the plateau. This unique geological setting contributes to wines of both power and finesse.

The vineyard covers approximately 3.10 hectares and is planted exclusively with 100% Merlot, allowing for a pure and expressive interpretation of the Saint-Émilion style. The vines sit alongside some of the appellation’s most prestigious growths, reflecting the quality potential of this exceptional site.

The wine is aged for 16 to 20 months in French oak barrels, which helps to refine structure and integrate complexity while preserving the identity of the fruit and terroir. The 2015 vintage, an outstanding year in Bordeaux, brings richness, balance and excellent ageing potential.

In the glass, Château Bellevue 2015 shows a deep garnet colour with evolved reflections. The nose is expressive and refined, opening on floral and spicy aromas, followed by layers of ripe black fruits, plum and subtle oak-derived notes.

On the palate, the wine is powerful yet elegant, with a generous mid-palate and a structured tannic framework that has now softened beautifully with age. The texture is full and harmonious, leading to a long, warm and persistent finish marked by spice, fruit and mineral undertones.

Château Bellevue 2015 is a superb expression of mature Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé, ideal with rich meat dishes such as sauce-based preparations, game, lamb or aged cheeses. It is fully ready to drink today, while still retaining enough structure to continue evolving gracefully in bottle.
