Description
Château Lascombes 2020 is a bold and polished expression of Margaux, reflecting both the warmth of the vintage and the estate’s contemporary, fruit-driven style. Typically based on Merlot with a significant proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon and smaller amounts of Petit Verdot, the wine offers a plush, approachable profile while maintaining the structure expected from a classified growth.
The nose is intense and aromatic, opening with ripe blackberry, cassis, and dark plum, alongside the hallmark floral notes of violet that define Margaux. Layers of vanilla, cocoa, and sweet spice from oak ageing add richness and depth, while subtle hints of cedar and graphite provide a classic Bordeaux complexity.
On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and velvety, with a dense core of dark fruit framed by smooth, well-integrated tannins. There is a generous, almost creamy texture, balanced by enough freshness to keep the wine from feeling heavy. The oak is prominent but harmonious, contributing to the wine’s roundness and structure without overshadowing the fruit.
The 2020 vintage gives Château Lascombes both immediate appeal and solid ageing potential, with the capacity to evolve over the next 10–15 years. It pairs beautifully with rich meat dishes such as roast beef, lamb, or duck, as well as hard cheeses. A hedonistic yet composed Margaux that showcases both power and elegance in equal measure.
