Description
White Label N°12 from Château de Jonquières is a 100% Carignan, organic red wine from the 2024 vintage, part of a unique and evolving experimental series. Classified as Vin de France, this cuvée sits outside the estate’s traditional range, giving the winemaking team full creative freedom to explore different grape varieties and expressions of their terroir.
The “White Label” concept is inspired by the world of rare vinyl pressings: small-production, self-released records shared first with a circle of insiders before reaching a wider audience. In the same spirit, each White Label cuvée is limited, distinctive, and designed as a space for experimentation. Over time, the series has highlighted different grape varieties from the estate, with N°12 returning to Carignan, a historic Mediterranean variety deeply rooted in the region.
In the glass, this Carignan typically shows a deep, vivid colour with youthful intensity. The nose is expressive and direct, driven by ripe black fruit such as blackberry and black cherry, often accompanied by notes of wild herbs, garrigue, and a subtle earthy spice that reflects its southern origin and organic cultivation.
On the palate, the wine is structured yet lively, with Carignan’s natural freshness giving lift and energy to the fruit. The tannins are present but finely textured, offering grip without heaviness. Layers of dark berries, spice, and herbal nuances unfold gradually, leading to a long, slightly rustic but refined finish that speaks of authenticity rather than polish.
This is a wine for those who enjoy characterful, unfiltered expressions of terroir. It pairs beautifully with grilled meats, slow-cooked dishes, roasted vegetables, and Mediterranean cuisine. White Label N°12 is both a nod to tradition and a space for innovation — a Carignan that embraces its roots while exploring new creative territory within the estate’s ongoing “white label” journey.
