Description

Mas de Boislauzon Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2022 is a classic and characterful expression of one of the Rhône Valley’s most prestigious appellations. Produced by the Chaussy family, who have farmed organically for generations, the wine reflects both tradition and precision, with fruit sourced from multiple parcels across the sun-drenched, pebble-rich soils of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

In the glass, it shows a deep ruby colour with violet reflections, signalling both concentration and youthful energy. The nose is expressive and layered, opening with ripe black fruits such as blackberry, black cherry, and plum. These are quickly joined by the signature aromas of the Southern Rhône: wild herbs (garrigue), black pepper, and earthy spice, along with subtle notes of cocoa, tobacco, and gentle oak-derived complexity.

On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and structured, yet remains balanced and harmonious. The fruit is dense and juicy, supported by fine-grained tannins that give shape without heaviness. A fresh backbone of acidity lifts the richness, ensuring energy and drinkability despite its power. Layers of dark fruit, spice, and savoury herbal tones unfold gradually, showing both generosity and finesse.

The finish is long, warm, and persistent, with lingering notes of ripe berries, dried herbs, and subtle spice. The 2022 vintage shows particularly good balance, combining ripeness with freshness, and already drinking well while clearly having the structure to evolve positively over the next 10–15 years.

This is a highly gastronomic wine, ideal with roast lamb, beef, game, duck, and richly flavoured Mediterranean dishes. It also pairs beautifully with slow-cooked stews and aged cheeses. Mas de Boislauzon Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2022 is a benchmark Southern Rhône red: powerful, authentic, and deeply expressive, yet refined enough to maintain elegance and balance.
