Description
Brouilly 2023 from Pierre-André Dumas is a new discovery for us, coming from a passionate winemaker based in Beaujolais. Working organically, Pierre-André crafts wines with a strong sense of place, focusing on purity, freshness and the natural expression of the Gamay grape.
Brouilly is the largest and one of the most recognisable of the Beaujolais crus, known for producing wines that combine the juicy charm of Gamay with a more structured and mineral character. The vineyards benefit from the unique granite soils of the region, which bring finesse, energy and a distinctive freshness to the wines.
Made from 100% Gamay, this 2023 vintage shows the variety at its most vibrant. The wine opens with aromas of ripe raspberry, cherry and red berries, followed by delicate floral notes reminiscent of violet, with a subtle earthy and mineral undertone. The palate is bright and refreshing, with a silky texture, gentle tannins and a lovely balance between fruit generosity and freshness.
There is an effortless elegance to this Brouilly: a wine that feels both authentic and immediately enjoyable, while still carrying the depth and identity of its terroir. It is a wonderful example of modern Beaujolais, where precision and drinkability come together.
Perfect served slightly cool, this Brouilly pairs beautifully with charcuterie, roast poultry, grilled meats, mushroom dishes or simply a relaxed meal with friends. A versatile and charming red that can be enjoyed young for its freshness, or kept for a few years to develop more complexity.
