Description
Cuvée Plaisir from Domaine Darragon is a rosé Vouvray made using the traditional method, crafted from Grolleau—an historic Loire Valley grape variety known for its bright fruit and natural freshness. Produced with a second fermentation in bottle and aged on its lees, this sparkling wine develops fine, persistent bubbles and a subtle layer of complexity.
The aromatic profile is immediately inviting, with notes of wild strawberry, raspberry, and redcurrant, complemented by hints of rose petal and a touch of citrus zest. With time, delicate nuances of fresh bread and light brioche emerge, adding depth without overshadowing the fruit. On the palate, the wine is crisp and lively, driven by a refreshing acidity that enhances its precision and drinkability. The mousse is fine and elegant, leading to a clean, vibrant finish.
Domaine Darragon, a family-run estate rooted in the Vouvray appellation, brings the same care and attention to its sparkling wines as to its still cuvées. By working with Grolleau for this rosé, the estate highlights a more playful and fruit-driven side of Loire winemaking, while maintaining balance and finesse through the traditional method.
Cuvée Plaisir is perfect as an aperitif, and pairs beautifully with charcuterie, light starters, or fruit-based desserts. Its bright, approachable style makes it an ideal sparkling wine for relaxed, celebratory moments.
