Description
La Fleur by Château Mondorion Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2022 is a second cuvée from the estate, offering a more fruit-forward and immediately accessible expression of their Right Bank style. The 2022 vintage in Bordeaux is widely regarded as generous and ripe, producing wines with depth, concentration, and supple structure, particularly in Saint-Émilion where Merlot thrives.
In the glass, the wine shows a deep garnet colour with youthful reflections, still holding vibrant density after several years of evolution. The nose is expressive and open, with aromas of ripe black cherry, blackberry, and plum, lifted by floral hints of violet. As it develops, subtle layers of sweet spice, cocoa, and gentle oak begin to emerge, adding warmth and complexity.
On the palate, La Fleur 2022 is full and rounded, with a plush, velvety texture typical of well-ripened Merlot-dominant blends from Saint-Émilion. The tannins are soft and well-integrated, providing structure without firmness. Juicy dark fruit dominates the mid-palate, balanced by a fresh underlying acidity that keeps the wine lively and prevents heaviness. Cabernet Franc contributes lift and aromatic finesse, giving the wine additional elegance and length.
The finish is smooth, harmonious, and persistent, with lingering notes of ripe berries, soft spice, and a gentle earthy undertone. It is a wine that prioritises pleasure and balance over austerity, already in a very enjoyable drinking window.
This cuvée pairs beautifully with roast meats such as lamb, beef, or duck, as well as mushroom-based dishes, gratins, and semi-soft cheeses. It is an approachable yet refined Saint-Émilion Grand Cru that combines the richness of the 2022 vintage with a supple, easy-drinking style, making it ideal for both casual enjoyment and food-led occasions.
