Description

Château Brane-Cantenac 2017 is a beautifully detailed expression of Margaux, an appellation renowned for its perfume, elegance, and finesse. The 2017 vintage in Bordeaux favoured the Left Bank, producing wines of purity, classical structure, and restrained charm rather than sheer power.

Led by Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot and smaller proportions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, the wine shows both aromatic lift and structural precision. The nose is expressive yet refined, offering layers of red cherry, raspberry, and blackcurrant, interwoven with violet, rose petal, and delicate cedar spice. There is a distinctive floral quality that is very much in line with the Margaux style.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with a supple, polished texture. Tannins are fine-grained and seamlessly integrated, supporting a core of fresh red and dark fruits. Subtle notes of graphite, tobacco leaf, and gentle spice add depth, while a vibrant acidity brings clarity and length to the finish. Oak is carefully judged, contributing structure without dominating the wine’s natural elegance.

Château Brane-Cantenac 2017 is already very approachable but has the balance to evolve gracefully over the next 8–15 years. It pairs beautifully with roast lamb, duck, poultry, and refined mushroom-based dishes. A poised and sophisticated Margaux that highlights the estate’s commitment to finesse, aromatic complexity, and classical Bordeaux expression.
