Domaine de Beyssac “Iniciau” 2018 is the original cuvée of this biodynamic estate in the Côtes du Marmandais, a small but characterful appellation in Southwest France. The name “Iniciau” means “Initial” in Occitan, reflecting its role as the first wine ever produced by the domaine and a true introduction to its philosophy of organic and biodynamic viticulture.

The wine is a blend of Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and Abouriou, a traditional local grape that brings a distinctive, slightly wild aromatic edge. This combination gives the wine both familiarity—through its Bordeaux varieties—and regional identity through Abouriou, resulting in a balanced yet characterful profile.

Vinified with native yeasts and aged in stainless steel to preserve fruit purity, “Iniciau” is designed to highlight freshness and drinkability rather than oak influence. In the glass, the 2018 vintage shows a deep ruby colour with slight garnet hints as it begins to evolve.

On the nose, it opens with expressive aromas of black cherry, plum, and blackberry, followed by notes of cocoa, liquorice, and gentle spice.
