Description
Produced in Riquewihr, one of Alsace’s most iconic wine villages, this Pinot Gris 2023 comes from Domaine de la Tour Blanche, a family estate run by Daniel and Estelle Klack. The Klack family has been dedicated to winemaking since 1628, with Daniel continuing this long tradition alongside Estelle, crafting wines that reflect the richness and identity of their Alsatian terroir. The domaine is also known for ageing its wines in large traditional oak casks, some of which are more than a century old, bringing a distinctive character to the wines.
Pinot Gris is one of Alsace’s noble grape varieties, appreciated for its naturally rich texture, aromatic complexity and ability to age gracefully. This 2023 vintage expresses the classic personality of the variety: a wine that combines generosity and elegance, with enough freshness to keep the balance.
The wine displays a beautiful golden-yellow colour. The nose is complex and expressive, opening with aromas of ripe orchard fruits and exotic notes, complemented by a subtle smoky character that is often associated with Alsatian Pinot Gris.
On the palate, it is rich, smooth and beautifully rounded, with a silky texture and layers of ripe fruit, gentle spice and savoury nuances. Despite its generosity, the wine maintains a lovely freshness and precision, leading to a long and harmonious finish. It is a Pinot Gris with both charm and depth, perfectly suited to the dinner table.
This wine pairs wonderfully with refined cuisine such as foie gras, roasted poultry, creamy sauces, mushroom dishes, fish in sauce or mature cheeses. Served lightly chilled, it can be enjoyed in its youth for its richness and aromatic expression, while also having the structure to develop further complexity with age.
