Description
Domaine Jean Perrier et Fils Apremont 2025 is a beautifully fresh expression of one of Savoie’s most emblematic white wines. Made from 100% Jacquère, the signature white grape of the region, it comes from vineyards around Apremont, Les Marches and Saint-Baldoph, where the vines grow on stony clay-limestone soils. These mineral-rich, well-drained soils contribute to the freshness and distinctive character for which Apremont is known.
The grapes are manually harvested before being gently pressed. After cold settling, the wine is fermented under temperature-controlled conditions, with fermentation lasting around three weeks. It is then matured in tank, preserving the natural freshness and delicate aromatic character of the Jacquère rather than adding oak influence.
In the glass, the wine has a bright, pale golden colour with subtle silver and green reflections. The nose is delicate and expressive, showing white flowers and hawthorn alongside fresh citrus and hints of white peach. A subtle flinty character adds another layer, reflecting the stony Alpine terroir.
On the palate, the wine is dry, lively and refreshing, with a bright citrus character and a fine mineral quality. The Jacquère brings plenty of freshness without making the wine feel austere, while the 2025 vintage offers a little extra roundness through the middle of the palate. The finish is clean, gently saline and pleasantly lemony, making the wine particularly refreshing when served well chilled.
Apremont is a wonderfully versatile wine for the table. It works beautifully as an aperitif, with oysters and shellfish, grilled fish, salads and light vegetable dishes, while its freshness makes it a particularly natural partner for Savoie classics such as fondue, raclette and tartiflette. Best enjoyed young, this is a wine that captures the freshness, simplicity and distinctive Alpine personality of Jacquère.
