Description

Mas de Boislauzon is a family-run estate located just north of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, in the commune of Orange. Now in the hands of the fifth and sixth generations of the Chaussy family, the domaine has built a strong reputation for both powerful reds and increasingly refined whites. Certified organic since 2012, the vineyards are farmed with a focus on soil health and biodiversity, spread across multiple lieux-dits that reflect the diversity of the appellation’s terroirs.

The 2022 Blanc is a classic southern Rhône blend of 50% Grenache Blanc, 40% Roussanne and 10% Clairette, sourced from clay soils covered with the region’s emblematic rolled pebbles (galets roulés). This terroir promotes full ripening while retaining freshness, giving the wine both breadth and structure. White Châteauneuf-du-Pape remains rare—accounting for only a small fraction of the appellation’s production—making wines like this particularly distinctive.

Vinification is carried out with a clear focus on texture and expression: hand-harvested fruit is carefully sorted, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and aged partly or entirely in new oak barrels. The Roussanne, in particular, is often vinified in oak, contributing richness and aromatic complexity, while Grenache Blanc preserves lift and freshness. The result is a wine that balances opulence with tension, avoiding heaviness despite its southern origins.

In the glass, the 2022 reveals a layered aromatic profile of pear, melon and citrus, alongside notes of white flowers, brioche and green almond. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, with a generous texture framed by vibrant acidity and a gently zesty, slightly bitter finish that brings energy and length. This interplay between ripe fruit, subtle oak and mineral freshness defines the wine’s style—both approachable in youth and capable of short- to mid-term ageing.

A compelling example of modern white Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Mas de Boislauzon 2022 Blanc captures the warmth of the vintage while maintaining clarity and balance—equally suited to refined seafood, richer dishes such as poultry or truffle, or simply enjoyed as a distinctive gastronomic white.
