Description

Domaine Les Creisses, crafted by Philippe Chesnelong in Valros, is a benchmark wine of the Languedoc, combining Mediterranean richness with precision and elegance. Produced from a blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, and smaller proportions of Mourvèdre, Carignan, and other southern varieties, it reflects the complexity of its diverse terroirs—stony clay-limestone soils and gravelly slopes that contribute both depth and freshness.

The nose is expressive and generous, opening with aromas of ripe blackberry, black cherry, and plum, layered with notes of wild herbs, liquorice, and a touch of peppery spice. Subtle hints of cocoa and toasted nuances emerge with aeration, adding further depth and refinement.

On the palate, the wine is rich and structured, yet remarkably smooth and well-balanced. The fruit is dense and ripe, supported by finely integrated tannins that give a velvety texture without heaviness. A natural freshness runs through the wine, a hallmark of the domaine’s terroir, ensuring energy and drinkability despite its concentration.

As it evolves, savoury and mineral elements become more pronounced, bringing complexity and a distinct sense of place. The finish is long, harmonious, and gently spiced, leaving lingering notes of dark fruit, herbs, and a refined earthy edge.

Domaine Les Creisses is a modern Languedoc classic—both approachable in its youth and capable of ageing—well suited to grilled meats, Mediterranean cuisine, or richly flavoured dishes where its balance of power and elegance can fully shine.
