Description
Domaine Fouassier Sancerre Rosé 2023 is a refined and terroir-driven expression of Loire Valley rosé from one of Sancerre’s oldest and most respected biodynamic estates. Produced from Pinot Noir grown on the region’s chalky and clay-limestone soils, the wine reflects the estate’s philosophy of low intervention and precise vineyard work, allowing purity of fruit and place to take centre stage.
In the glass, it displays a pale salmon-pink colour with clarity and brightness, signalling both finesse and freshness. The nose is delicate yet expressive, offering aromas of ripe wild strawberries, redcurrants, and citrus zest, complemented by subtle floral tones and a gentle hint of pink pepper spice.
On the palate, the wine is dry, crisp, and vibrant, with lively acidity giving it lift and precision. The fruit profile is clean and direct, led by fresh red berries and a touch of citrus, while a fine mineral backbone adds structure and length. The texture is light and elegant, with a subtle savoury edge that enhances complexity without weighing it down.
The finish is fresh, linear, and refreshing, leaving notes of strawberry, grapefruit, and chalky minerality that linger gracefully.
This is a versatile rosé that excels as an aperitif but also shines with food. It pairs beautifully with grilled seafood, summer salads, charcuterie, light pasta dishes, and even mildly spiced cuisine. The 2023 vintage emphasises clarity, drinkability, and finesse, making it a stylish and food-friendly Loire rosé with true Sancerre character.
