Description
Six reds. Six regions. One rule: keep it fresh.
Not every red wine needs to be big, powerful and serious. This mixed case is all about the other side of red wine: bright fruit, juicy freshness, silky or soft tannins and wines that you can happily enjoy slightly chilled.
We have selected six bottles from very different parts of France, from Beaujolais and the Loire to Provence, the Rhône, Cahors and the Languedoc. What brings them together is a style we particularly love at The French Paradox: reds with plenty of personality, but without the weight.
Inside the case:
Domaine de Cassan – Ventoux “Les Esclausels” 2023
A fresh and expressive Rhône red with a lovely southern character. Ripe fruit and gentle spice are balanced by freshness, making it a wonderfully easy-going expression of the Ventoux.
Domaine du Petit Bondieu – Bourgueil “Cuvée Céleste” 2023
Cabernet Franc at its most charming: bright, crunchy and beautifully fresh. Red berries, delicate herbal notes and fine tannins make this a wonderfully versatile Loire red, especially when served slightly cool.
Domaine Lamartine – Cahors “Tandem” 2024
A lighter and more approachable side of Cahors. Made from Malbec, it brings juicy dark fruit and a touch of spice without the heavy structure sometimes associated with the appellation. A lively, modern take on a classic South-West wine.
Château Pas du Cerf – Côtes de Provence “Diane Rouge” 2024
A wonderfully Mediterranean red that still feels fresh and energetic. Ripe raspberry and cherry fruit meet gentle spice and supple tannins, creating a wine that is particularly enjoyable with a slight chill.
Domaine Pierre-André Dumas – Brouilly 2023
A beautiful example of the fresh, juicy character that makes Beaujolais so irresistible. Bright red fruit, floral notes and a silky texture make this a wine for easy drinking, good food and long evenings.
Château de Jonquières – Terrasses du Larzac “Lansade Rouge” 2024
A fresh and fruit-driven expression of the Languedoc, bringing southern warmth without heaviness. Generous fruit, gentle spice and an energetic finish make it a lovely final bottle in the selection.
Together, these six wines show just how much freshness and fruit can exist in French red wine. They come from very different terroirs and use different grape varieties, but none of them rely on sheer power or heavy tannins to make an impression.
These are wines for charcuterie, grilled vegetables, pizza, roast chicken, summer lunches, cheese boards and long dinners with friends. And yes, several of them can happily take a little time in the fridge before serving.
Crunchy, juicy, fresh and effortlessly drinkable — six reds that prove red wine doesn’t have to be heavy to be serious fun.
